How old do I have to be in Cicero Illinois before I can drive a vehicle? I have heard that it was 16, but some say it was 18.

According to the Illinois Secretary of State (SOS) Driver Services Department the widespread rumor about a change in the minimum driving age from sixteen to eighteen is not true.

Age sixteen stays the age at which an individual who has successfully completed a driver education program may apply for a driver’s license in Cicero, Illinois. The graduated system establishes other requirements during the instruction permit stage, with the purpose of producing better-skilled 16-year-old motorists.

Again, even with new provisions put in place in 2008 to the graduated system in Illinois you can still get a drivers license at age 16, you do not have to wait till age eighteen as is rumored.
